They were a credit to their parents and their coaches and added plenty of colour and noise to the proceedings. A special word of thanks to Mark Horgan and his fellow coaches for such a well organised representation on behalf of the club. Thank you

Balincollig Afc (1) – (1) Leeside Afc

Ballincollig Afc Seniors Proudly sponsored by Sams Bar

The Landing Field, Saturday 1st March

bfcgal

Ballincollig Seniors played Leeside in the league last Saturday. Both teams started slowly due to the lack of game time over the last two months. Ballincollig made a couple of changes with the team, with Shane (skinny) starting on the left and it was the winger who took on the full back who took him down in the penalty box. Ballincollig however failed to convert the penalty, The homes side however were starting to take control and creating a few half chances. Just before half time however Leeside had a great chance to take the lead only to find Sean Hogan in fine form to make a great save and keep it scoreless at half time. Ballincollig came out in the second half pushing Leeside back more and finally got the lead from Richard o Brien when he stuck the ball into top corner from about18 yards out giving the keeper little chance. Ballincollig were controlling the game but 10 mins later leeside on a rare attack equalized through their centre midfielder . Ballincollig pushed again to get a second.Richard o Brien had a shot where it was touched in by Dave Sweeney only to be chalked off for offside. Ballincollig made changes with Christy o Brien and Michael McNulty coming on, it pushed Leeside back more with Christy having a couple of chances. Dave Sweeney came close and Ian Roche hit the crossbar but it was not to be and the game finished 1-1, Ian Roche Richard o Brien and Frank Downs played well for Ballincollig, Ballincollig are now top of the league 2 points clear and remain well on course for silverware provided they keep their focus
