Carrigaline United 0 – 1 Ballincollig

Before this game Carrigaline were on top of the league with a 100% record. After this game it’s Ballincollig who are top with a well deserved away win on an artificial all-weather pitch in what was a tight game.
Niamh Coughlan in goal fully deserved her clean sheet over the 90 minutes but it was a complete team performance. Scoreless at half time the decisive moment came from a set-piece. Amy Wilson swung in the ball from the corner only for Carrigaline to defend it. The clearance found Wilson again and she made no mistake rifling the ball into top corner. As good a goal as you’ll see anywhere.
It’s hard to pick out individuals but Eva Murphy, Caroline Kelly and Melissa Roadis played very well. It’s early in the season yet but the view from up top is definitely a pretty one.
